Redbirds Add Talented Trio for 2023-24 Season

Bloomington, Ill. - March 8, 2023

Illinois State men's basketball head coach Ryan Pedon announced the signing of three recruits to National Letters of Intent on Wednesday. The Redbirds welcome forwards Kendall Lewis and Luke Kasubke, along with guard Micah Bradford, to the program for the 2023-24 season.

Lewis, a 6-foot-8 forward from Decatur, Illinois, was named the Central State Eight Conference Player of the Year as a senior at MacArthur High School. He averaged 18.1 points, 10.1 rebounds, and 3.1 blocks per game, leading the Generals to a 25-6 record and a runner-up finish in the Class 3A state tournament.

Kasubke, a 6-foot-7 forward from Waunakee, Wisconsin, averaged 16.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game as a senior at Waunakee High School. He helped lead the Warriors to a 21-6 record and a regional championship.

Bradford, a 6-foot-2 guard from Country Club Hills, Illinois, averaged 16.2 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game as a senior at Hillcrest High School. He was named the South Suburban Conference Player of the Year and led the Hawks to a 24-5 record and a regional championship.

"We are excited to welcome Kendall, Luke, and Micah to our Redbird family," said Pedon. "They are all talented players who have a high character and a strong work ethic. We believe they have the potential to make an immediate impact on our program."

The Redbirds finished the 2022-23 season with a 19-13 record, including a 12-6 mark in the Missouri Valley Conference. They advanced to the semifinals of the MVC Tournament before falling to eventual champion Northern Iowa.

With the addition of Lewis, Kasubke, and Bradford, the Redbirds are poised to make a run at the MVC title in 2023-24.
