Introducing Judgment
Judgment is a new spin-off of the Yakuza series, developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio and published by Sega. The game was released in Japan in December 2018, and was released worldwide in June 2019. Judgment follows the story of Takayuki Yagami, a private detective who is investigating a series of murders in Kamurocho, the fictionalized version of Tokyo that is the setting for the Yakuza series.
A New Perspective
Judgment is a departure from the traditional Yakuza games in a number of ways. The most obvious difference is the protagonist. In previous Yakuza games, the player has always controlled a member of the Yakuza, but in Judgment, the player controls a private detective. This change in perspective gives the game a different feel than the Yakuza games, as the player is no longer involved in the criminal underworld in the same way.
